Best time to visit Autotrader.com Speedway In Lights?

Christmas in LightsOne of the most popular questions we get around here dealing with our annual holiday light show is, “When is the best time to visit Autotrader.com Speedway In Lights?”

Of course, we welcome visitors any time that the event gates are open (6-10 p.m. nightly through January 5).  However, there are times to visit that hold an advantage over others.

The personal preference of many is to visit any Sunday through Thursday night.  Light gazers will find the wait much less than on a Friday or Saturday night.  That translates to a quicker trip through the lights, more fun in Christmas Village and maybe even allows for time to stop at The Ice Rink at Bristol Motor Speedway.

There’s another kicker I’ll throw in that impacts a visit to Speedway In Lights — Check the weather forecast before you come, especially if you really want to get the “most” out of viewing the lights.

Look for rain — yes, rain — in the forecast.  The lights look spectacular when the roadway surface and surrounding structures are wet.  The lights sparkle and glow brilliantly against wet backgrounds and also offer some great photo opportunities along the route.
